  •  Union Cabinet approved the hike of government stake in Industrial Finance Corporation of India (IFCI) ltd to 51 percent. 
  •  The Reserve Bank of India on 29 December 2014 released the Financial Stability Report December 2014. The report also includes the Trend and Progress of Banking in India during 2013-14.
  •  Foreign Exchange Reserves of India reached 320 billion US dollars on the back of a massive jump in foreign currency assets. 
  •  Four PSUs signed joint venture agreements to set up an integrated coal gasification-cum-fertiliser and ammonium nitrate complex in Talcher, Odisha. 
  •  Union Cabinet approved promulgation of an Ordinance to hike FDI cap in the insurance sector to 49 percent. 
  •  Suresh Prabhu Advisory Group on Integrated Development of Power submitted report to Union Government. 
  •  BHEL bagged a 16.96 million Euros contract for a thermal power project from Electricity Generation Company of Turkey. 
  •  The interest rate of 8.75 percent on Provident Fund (PF) deposits for the year 2014-15 was approved by the Union Finance Ministry on 19 December 2014. 
  •  RBI imposed monetary penalty on ICICI bank and Bank of Baroda for violation of its instructions regarding norms on KYC and AML. 
  •  RBI increased RTGS (real time gross settlement) business hours from 7.30 hours to 12 hours. 
  •  The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) on 10 December 2014 approved the implementation of the Tea Development and Promotion Scheme of the Tea Board. 
  •  Union Cabinet approved to set up of 500 crore rupees Credit Guarantee Fund for factoring of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.
  •  The Union Government on 5 December 2014 divested its 5 percent stake in Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL). 
  •  The Reserve Bank notified reviewed Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) policy in railways infrastructure and Defence sectors. 
  •  Air India signed a MoU with NBCC for monetization of surplus land assets of the national carrier.
  •  The Union Cabinet approved Regional Rural Banks (Amendment) Bill, 2013 that seeks amendments in the Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) Act, 1976. 
  •  RBI in its fifth bi-monthly monetary policy statement kept the policy rates unchanged.
  •  International Finance Corp (IFC) arm of World Bank issued 10 billion rupee Masala bond to fund infrastructure development. The so-called masala bonds mark the first rupee bonds listed on the London Stock Exchange. The name masala bond is the Indian counterpart of the Dim Sum bond applied to Chinese offshore issues of IFC. Bonds issued inside India by IFC are known as Maharaja Bonds.
  •  November 11: Reserve Bank of India tightened its norms for Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs) by requiring them to have a much stronger capital base. Failing to which, the NBFCs would lose their CoR (Certificate of Registration). NBFCs have been given time till March 2017 to comply with the norms.
  •  November 19: Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd ( IREDA) and US ExportImport (Exim) Bank signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with respect to cooperation on clean energy investment.
  •  State Bank of India (SBI) Mutual Fund (MF) announced that it will launch Shariah Equity Fund on 1 December 2014. The fund is aimed at attracting investments from Muslim populations of India. The fund has been approved by the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, an authority that oversees the observance of Muslim civil laws in India.
  • The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) directed Foreign Portfolio Investor (FPI) to ensure compliance with all necessary norms of Foreign Portfolio Investment (FPI) Regulations before issuing Offshore Derivative Instruments (ODIs) especially participatory notes (P-notes) with immediate effect. With respect to this SEBI issued the guidelines outlining the details.
  •  Reserve Bank of India (RBI) decided to sell worth 2000 crore rupees government bonds through Open Market Operations (OMOs) to squeeze the liquidity in the market.
  • The Reserve Bank of India on 27 November 2014 issued Guidelines for Licensing of Small Finance Banks in the Private Sector. As per the issued guidelines, the minimum paid-up equity capital for small finance banks shall be 100 crore rupees.
  •  Reserve Bank of India (RBI) released guidelines for Licensing of Payments Banks. These guidelines will allow mobile firms and supermarket chains, among others, to enter the banking arena to cater to individuals and small businesses.
  • The objectives of payments banks will be to further financial inclusion by providing small savings accounts and payments or remittance services to migrant labour workforce, low income households, small businesses, other unorganized sector entities and other users.
  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) eased gold imports and scrapped 20:80 scheme. The decision to withdraw the 20:80 scheme will cut smuggling of gold and raise legal shipments into India. In 2013, the 20:80 scheme was introduced to bring down inbound shipments, sliding rupee and to combat a huge current account deficit (CAD) along with a hike in import duty to 10 percent.

 28 October- Telecom giant SoftBank announced to make an investment of 10 billion US dollars in India's IT and Communications sector in coming years. SoftBank is aiming at telecom space and e-commerce sector in India.
 28 October- The Union Finance Ministry scrapped the current selection process for the posts of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) and Executive Director (ED) of Public Sector Banks (PSBs).
 28 October- The Kamarajar Port Ltd (KPL) on 28 October 2014 announced to set up a Free Trade and Warehousing Zone (FTWZ) on 100 acres, adjacent to its premises.

 27 October- The Union Government launched a dedicated website for Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana available both in English and Hindi versions. The website, www.pmjdy.gov.inwas launched by Secretary, Department of Financial Services (DFS), GS Sandhu in New Delhi.
 17 October- RBI signed a pact with the Central Bank of Kenya for Supervisory Cooperation and Exchange of Supervisory Information.
 16 October- Union Government for the first time decided to import potatoes to augment domestic availability and check rising prices of the kitchen staple.
 15 October- India's exports increased 2.73 percent in September 2014 worth of 28.90 billion US dollar from 28.13 billion US dollar in September2014.

 13 October- Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation or retail inflation of September 2014 stood at 6.46 percent as compared to the 7.3 percent in August 2014.
 10 October- JP Morgan on 10 October 2014 cut its India GDP growth projection for 2014-15 to 5.1 percent from 5.3 percent.
 8 October- Data released by Railway Ministry said that during April to September 2014, Railways revenue earnings have gone up by over 12 percent.
 7 October- Shipping Corporation of India Limited launched India Myanmar Service (IMS) Container service. The service will link South and East India to Myanmar via Chennai, Krishnapatnam, Yangoon, Colombo port rotation.
 First week- The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) in first week of October 2014 approved 33 defence proposals. Of these 33 proposals, 19 are related to the foreign direct investment that aims to boost the manufacturing in defence sector.
 1 October - The Reserve Bank of India released fourth Bi-Monthly Monetary Policy Statement. Policy rates were kept unchanged in this announcement.

 30 October- Union Government on 30 October 2014 announced to amend the Lokpal and Lokayuktas Act, 2013 and to include the Leader of Opposition.
 30 October- Supreme Court of India said that a minority government can be formed in Delhi with outside support of a political outfit.
 30 October- Union Government announced compensation of 5 lakh rupees for kin of 3325 people who were killed during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
 29 October- Union Government submitted a list of 627 Indians holding black money abroad in a sealed cover.
 28 October- Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs on 28 October 2014 launched Vanbandhu Kalyan Yojana (VKY) for welfare of Tribal people. The scheme was launched on pilot basis in one block each of the States of Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Telangana, Orissa, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Gujarat.
 28 October- Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on 28 October 2014 announced TB-Mission 2020 to eliminate Tuberculosis (TB) from India. The announcement was made at WHO's Global TB Symposium titled Moving out of the box

 31 October- Union Cabinet approved proposal to amend Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) policy in construction and real estate sectors.
 29 October- India-Saudi agreed to cooperate in areas of strategic reserves, petrochemical conservation, refineries and energy efficiency programmes. The areas include strategic reserves, petrochemical conservation, research and development, refineries and energy efficiency programmes.
 28 October- Telecom giant SoftBank announced to make an investment of 10 billion US dollars in India's IT and Communications sector in coming years. SoftBank is aiming at telecom space and e-commerce sector in India.
 28 October- The Union Finance Ministry scrapped the current selection process for the posts of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) and Executive Director (ED) of Public Sector Banks (PSBs).
 28 October- The Kamarajar Port Ltd (KPL) on 28 October 2014 announced to set up a Free Trade and Warehousing Zone (FTWZ) on 100 acres, adjacent to its premises.
 27 October- The Union Finance Ministry on 27 October 2014 cancelled the current selection process for the posts of CMD and Executive Director (ED) of Public Sector Banks (PSBs)
 27 October- World Bank report titled, India Development Update that claims India's GDP to grow by 5.6 percent in Current Fiscal Year.
 27 October- The Union Government launched a dedicated website for Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana available both in English and Hindi versions. The website, www.pmjdy.gov.inwas launched by Secretary, Department of Financial Services (DFS), GS Sandhu in New Delhi.
 17 October- RBI signed a pact with the Central Bank of Kenya for Supervisory Cooperation and Exchange of Supervisory Information.
 16 October- Union Government for the first time decided to import potatoes to augment domestic availability and check rising prices of the kitchen staple.
 15 October- India's exports increased 2.73 percent in September 2014 worth of 28.90 billion US dollar from 28.13 billion US dollar in September2014.
 15 October- Switzerland agreed to examine Indian requests for banking information on a priority basis and provide requested details in a time-bound manner.
 14 October- Union Finance Ministry on 14 October 2014 approved 25 FDI proposals with total investment of 1546 crore rupees.
 12 October- Union Finance Minister on 12 October 2014 gave the green signal for the much awaited reforms in the monetary policy framework.
 13 October- Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation or retail inflation of September 2014 stood at 6.46 percent as compared to the 7.3 percent in August 2014.
 10 October- JP Morgan on 10 October 2014 cut its India GDP growth projection for 2014-15 to 5.1 percent from 5.3 percent.
 8 October- Data released by Railway Ministry said that during April to September 2014, Railways revenue earnings have gone up by over 12 percent.
 7 October- Shipping Corporation of India Limited launched India Myanmar Service (IMS) Container service. The service will link South and East India to Myanmar via Chennai, Krishnapatnam, Yangoon, Colombo port rotation.
 First week- The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) in first week of October 2014 approved 33 defence proposals. Of these 33 proposals, 19 are related to the foreign direct investment that aims to boost the manufacturing in defence sector.
 1 October - The Reserve Bank of India released fourth Bi-Monthly Monetary Policy Statement. Policy rates were kept unchanged in this announcement.

NATIONAL NEWS

 30 October- Union Government on 30 October 2014 announced to amend the Lokpal and Lokayuktas Act, 2013 and to include the Leader of Opposition.
 30 October- Supreme Court of India said that a minority government can be formed in Delhi with outside support of a political outfit.
 30 October- Union Government announced compensation of 5 lakh rupees for kin of 3325 people who were killed during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
 29 October- Union Government submitted a list of 627 Indians holding black money abroad in a sealed cover.
 28 October- Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs on 28 October 2014 launched Vanbandhu Kalyan Yojana (VKY) for welfare of Tribal people. The scheme was launched on pilot basis in one block each of the States of Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Telangana, Orissa, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Gujarat.
 28 October- Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on 28 October 2014 announced TB-Mission 2020 to eliminate Tuberculosis (TB) from India. The announcement was made at WHO's Global TB Symposium titled Moving out of the box to end global TB epidemic: with post-2015 strategy while addressing the 45th Union World Conference on Lung Health at Barcelona.
 28 October- Supreme Court on 28 October 2014 rapped the Union Government and Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Najeeb Jung over delay in Delhi Government formation.
 27 October- The Union Government on 27 October 2014 disclosed names of black money account holders in an affidavit to Supreme Court. The affidavit was filed after the union government was attacked by political rivals that it was cautious of revealing names.
 25 October- Union Defence Ministry on 25 October 2014 cleared the deal worth 8000 crore rupees to buy anti tank missiles from Israel.
 24 October- Union Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) on 24 October 2014 announced that donations to the Swach Bharat Kosh and the Clean Ganga Fund are now part of corporate social responsibility (CSR) spends by India Inc.
 21 October- Union government de-regulated the price of diesel and hiked in domestically produced natural gas. This is the first reduction in diesel rates from 2009. The diesel price was reduced by 2 rupees a litre to 30.86 rupees in January 2009.After the deregulation of diesel, the rates of diesel will bring down rates by 3.37 rupees per litre.
 20 October- The union cabinet approved an inter-governmental Memorandum of Understanding with Iran to upgrade the Chabahar port Phase-I.
 19 October- Union Government on 19 October 2014 decided to re-launch the modified Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme in an effective manner. The implementation of DBT will be made on a mission mode between 10 November 2014 and 1 January 2015 in 54 districts.
 19 October- The Union Government on 19 October 2014 started a three-day training programme for Ebola caregivers in Delhi.
 18 October- Union Government on 18 October 2014 launched Jammu Kashmir Arogya Gram Yojna in Jammu and Kashmir. The scheme aims to encourage farmers in J&K to cultivate scientifically tested and commercially beneficial aromatic and medicinal plants in the state.
 18 October- The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 18 October 2014 approved the Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project Phase-1.
 17 October- Union Home Ministry on 17 October 2014 drafted a new counter-Naxal dOctoberrine. In the drafted law, the ministry clearly demarcated the role of the state police and central paramilitary forces (CPMFs) in anti-Maoist operations.
 16 October- Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) under the Union Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions on 16 October 2014 amended the selection procedure for the post of Chief of Central Vigilance Commission (CVC).
